About Bo Aucoin
ARTIST STATEMENT

Emancipation. If there's one word that describes what my writing means to me, it is that. In my mid thirties, I experienced a severe mental health crisis. It was my writing that got me through days of living homeless in San Francisco, that helped me survive involuntary hospitalization, and that eventually uncovered a sense of self worth living for. Through writing, I have emancipated myself from the person I thought I needed to be, and have begun the journey of falling in love with the person that I am. It is my hope that my writing might inspire in others the power to do the same.

ARTIST BIO

Bo is Canadian. Bo loves snowy mountain peaks and evergreen trees; he loves real maple syrup, universal healthcare, and extra-aged cheese. When Bo is not working as a clinical mental health counselor, he can be found riding his bike around Santa Cruz in a shiny gold helmet, milking goats in Soquel, enjoying a beer at Sante Adairius, or rockin' some Beethoven on a 6ft antique grand, squished into a Seabright studio where he currently lives with his two kiddos (part time), and his furry best friend, Thelonious Monk.
