SIEGE:   "I believe that we are meaning-making machines.”

 

• The performance is intended to be approximately 30-40 minutes.

• The creation process will be collaborative with cast members as well as technical contributing to the finished project.
  
  CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT:

 1. STORYBOARD:  Illustrations and draft text detailing initial sequences for action as well as element             definitions.  Initial Draft of choreography and video mapping as well as animation.

 2. TECH: (LIGHTING SOUND AND VIDEO) Access equipment needs, location of projectors, speakers,             lighting focus

 3. FILM ANIMATION: Video/ animation elements rough draft with detail finish to follow. 

 4. SOUNDSCAPE:  Synthesized sound track is developed as production takes form.  It is expected that       once the choreography, video projections and special effects are determined the soundscape will be             pushed to the final version. ( collaboration with mid eastern musicians and vocalist.

 5.  POETRY: Poetry voice over punctuates the performance and adds context to the abstract narrative.

 1. EVIL:  Older male - antagonist devoid of a soul; Tom Brady - Assigned

 2. ASPIRATION:  Woman age 25-35 ethnicity preferred Jewish origins; movement conscious, acrobatic,         flexibility a plus. Inventive, physical with an understanding of the connection between meaning and               movement. 

 

 3. SEEKER:  Male age 25-35 ethnicity of mid east dissent preferred; movement conscious, acrobatic,            flexibility a plus. Inventive, physical with an understanding of the connection between meaning and                movement. 

      

 

MOTIVATION:   IT'S HARD TO THINK ABOUT - EVEN HARDER TO SPEAK.

 

SIEGE is a voice, a single voice determined to be a witness.  An experience driven immersive visceral protest of our choices.  We are better than this.​

These are the times . . . that demand attention.

These are the times . . . Have we learned nothing?  

 

As a species we are inexplicably drawn to violence through immoral aggression.  Through our efforts, skilled diplomacy, the Israeli Palestinian war has produced only evidence of our capacity to commit horrific acts. 

 

Among other tragedies we have produced tens of thousand orphaned Palestinian children, tens of thousands killed in Gaza; 1200 Israelis and 250 hostages. These are only the numbers . . . . the humanitarian evolving crisis grows exponentially as we fail to focus our energies on compassion and rebuilding. 

 

There is no shortage of examples - major wars with at least 10,000 deaths/year or more - some starting as far back as 1948:  Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Palestinian, Hamas, Gaza, Iran, Iraq, Maghreb/Sahel, Myanmar, Lebanon, Hezbollah, Syria, Sudan, Ethiopia.

These are the times . . . . to build a NEVER AGAIN commitment focused on peace. 

 

We are better than this!  

 

ACTION: 

 

       A series of elements one folding into the other weaving live performance, video mapping supported by         lighting and a soundscape to create an immersive experience.  Content wrestles with social, political,           philosophical issues to speak out loud about the futility of seeking war/violence as a means to solving           issues.
