Artist Collaboration

Aliento Amado/Beloved Breath is a collection of poems written by Juan Velasco-Moreno and translated in collaboration with Kirk Glaser.

The poems lead the reader on a journey of discovering the Dharma through six landscapes of consciousness, struggling with the reality of suffering to understand the way beyond it to peace and true action—from the chaotic dream of reality, to gathering oneself for the journey through emptiness, to awakening and fulfillment, and finally awareness in the beloved breath.

Written with deep roots in the tradition of Spanish mysticism and romantic poetry, and infused with Velasco-Moreno’s deep wisdom of the Dharma through his training as a Zen priest, the poems follow the lyric, sensual, and contemplative explorations of a speaker seeking to understand the nature of being through love, meditation, and the natural world.

The poems offer inspiration for healing in how they provide a vision for practice while wrestling with the difficult realities of life.
