Bio

Jessie Marie has worked extensively as a community organizer stemming from her experiences in life as a poet, as an urban modern artist (photography and painting) and as a musician focused on creating access and experiences with the arts & music communities throughout the greater Bay Area.

Through her love of expressive art and music and its healing potential, she started doing live performance art in the San Francisco and the Berkeley music scene around 2005 and has collaborated and fostered creativity publicly ever since.

She founded Mic Drop! in 2021 (after a long season of running other art and poetry spaces) and has had help to curate this event into what it is today- bringing in a fierce team of poets to run it alongside her. She is a local avid photographer for many events and performers, as well as an artist showing in galleries around the Bay Area over many years.

Jessie Marie is multi-facetted (She even has been known to function as a Pastor for an International Ministry.) Knowing so many performers and artists doing their thing, growing up and out, is indeed something to dream of... Jessie works in many different realms of the creative process with several different organizations in and around the central coast currently and is residing in Santa Cruz, CA.

She enjoys her creativity unleashing projects in digital media, photography, poetry and in music.  Currently organizing Mic Drop! a Community Open Mic  located at The 418 Project in Santa Cruz County, bringing their collective creative insight and openness to make just about anything imagined malleable and accessible.

She loves learning and evolving through life’s experiences,  bringing her creativity to the surface as often as possible.

Artist Statement

She breathes through various canvasses so that her fingers can breathe alongside life, as if she would suffocate without this humbling practice.
