Jamie A. Cutter is a local poet, educator, and activist whose poetry explores identity, memory, and place. Growing up in rural New Hampshire and then the central coast of California, Jamie spent her childhood in nature and came of age with a passion for poetry and social justice. Jamie has made Santa Cruz County her home for the past 18 years where she has worked to create safer school environments for marginalized youth, often utilizing poetry and written expression as a tool for liberation. She is an English and health teacher at Delta Charter High School, the Director of Health Curriculum for the Safe Schools Project of Santa Cruz County, and a lecturer in the Masters of Education and Credential program at UCSC. In addition to her chapbooks Holding Our Breaths (2009) and Poems for a Stranger (2010), her work has been featured in anthologies and literary magazines, including Matchbox Magazine, Pulp, and Chinquapin. Jamie is honored to share the stage with Delta Charter High School poets.
